Dawn of the Dead

Limited Edition 4K Box Set

1978 · Directed by George A. Romero · United Kingdom edition

4K UHDOut of print

Romero’s survivors take shelter in a shopping mall while the world outside collapses. Second Sight’s original limited box treats the film as a body of related versions, with theatrical, Cannes and Argento cuts on separate UHD discs. It adds printed and soundtrack material around the movie. This entry concerns the large original box, whose contents differ from smaller subsequent packages that can share the film’s title.

CHECK THE EXACT EDITION

Verify the original limited UHD box and all seven discs. Standard, Blu-ray-only and later packages should be identified separately.

THE CURATOR’S NOTES

What makes this edition different?

The value of this package is its breadth: alternate cuts allow a viewer to examine rhythm and emphasis, while the books and music extend the experience beyond a single screening. It is especially suited to someone already interested in Romero’s film rather than a buyer simply testing a new UHD player. The label’s out-of-print designation concerns this edition. Ask for a full inventory when evaluating a used set, and check that the soundtrack discs and books are included. The bonus Blu-ray is Region B even though the UHD discs are listed as region free.
